The truth about extreme weather?
from zero on 06/09/2015 08:26 PMClimate scientists have been saying that CO2 levels in the atmosphere drive changes in global climate. A considerable number of scientists disagree with this hypothesis, pointing out that the climate record shows changes in CO2 levels lagging changes in global temperature, not the other way around.
Whether you believe their theory or not, it's plainly obvious that there is a considerable profit motive behind pushing the idea that CO2 levels effect climate. Carbon taxes, carbon credits, global treaties written by unelected bureaucrats - it's easy to see it as being about money and power rather than environmentalism.
But what if there was a simple and obvious reason for extreme weather?
When I was in my teens, I was in Air Cadets, and part of our training included studying meteorology - the science of weather. Obviously to a pilot, a solid understanding of how the atmosphere behaves is essential. Well, one of the core concepts in meteorology is the effect of terrain on weather.
If you're flying a glider, one of the things you're looking for is "thermals", which are rising columns of hot air. You can't see them, but you can anticipate where they will form. Any area of ground exposed to direct sunlight will get hot and generate thermals. From the perspective of a glider pilot, the bigger the thermal is, the better. When you locate one, you can do circles in it to gain altitude. Under the right conditions, a glider can stay aloft for many hours riding thermals.
So what does that have to do with extreme weather?
Simple. We humans have massively altered the surface cover of the planet through DEFORESTATION. Go on Google Earth sometime and check it out: wherever there is forest, there are clearcuts. Every forest is riddled with them. Each clearcut is a portion of the earth's surfact that now behaves differently than it once did.
During wet weather, mature forest absorbs moisture, and so does clearcut or new forest, but mature forest is able to absorb more water. Here's the key thing though, when the sun comes out again after a rain, mature forest releases moisture slowly and continuously, clearcut dumps all it's moisture into the atmosphere very quickly, and then it gets hot, generating thermals where they previously did not exist. Do you see how, when done on a global scale, deforestation can massively alter the behavior of the climate? The capacity for moisture to enter the atmosphere is increased with every new clearcut.
But where's the money in fighting deforestation? Where's the justification for increased control of the population? There is none, and that's why you are unlikely to be told the truth about it.
