MASSACHUSETTS HOUSE LAUNCHES INVESTIGATION INTO DEVAL PATRICK’S HIDDEN ACCOUNTS : James Longley
from Doofiegirl on 06/15/2015 03:11 PMDon't they all have secret funds anymore....
Check it out:
Massachusetts House investigators are looking into whether former Gov. Deval Patrick diverted state money to secret funds for travel, advertising and other off-the-books expenses.
The Boston Herald first broke the story of the money transfers earlier this week. http://www.bostonherald.com/news_opinion/local_politics/2015/06/hidden_junket_funds_how_deval_patrick_secretly_diverted_millions http://www.bostonherald.com/news_opinion/local_politics/2015/06/state_house_panel_launches_probe_into_patrick_junket_cash https://www.bostonherald.com/news_opinion/local_politics/2015/06/hidden_junket_funds_how_deval_patrick_secretly_diverted_millions http://dailycaller.com/2015/06/12/massachusetts-house-launches-investigation-into-deval-patricks-hidden-accounts/
EVERYONE GETS A TROPHY! 3 HIGH SCHOOLS IN DUBLIN, OHIO HAVE 222 VALEDICTORIANS
from Doofiegirl on 06/15/2015 03:02 PMUnbelievable in more ways than one....
Check it out:
Graduation ceremonies might still be going on if Dublin schools had asked all of its valedictorians to speak.
There were 222 of them.
That means two out of every 10 graduates at Dublin's three high schools received top honors this year. Dublin Scioto had 44 valedictorians, Dublin Jerome had 82, and Dublin Coffman had 96. "I can't say I've heard of that many," said David Hawkins, executive director for educational content and policy with the National Association of College Admissions Counseling. He's aware of high schools with 20-some valedictorians in a class but not as many as Coffman's.
The valedictorian was once the single highest-performing graduate — and some districts, such as Hilliard and South-Western, still adhere to the practice. But experts say it's more typical to see multiple valedictorians or none at all as educators try eliminate the competition among students to be No. 1 of their class.
"If you look at the big picture, in a situation where you have 96 valedictorians, you are not making fine distinctions between students who have graduated at the top of their class. ... These 96 students have attained the highest level of achievement in their school," Hawkins said. http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2015/06/03/best-of-class-in-dublin-222-grads-tie.html
Never Stop Learning – Sunday Thought For The Day by Mychal Massie

Sheryl is a voracious reader. While others are watching television or playing video games, she is deeply engrossed in the pages of a book.
Much of this zeal can be traced back to her early childhood. Her family often visited a great aunt and uncle who owned a bookstore. There, Sheryl would sit on Uncle Ed's lap as he read to her and introduced her to the wonders and delights of books.
Centuries ago a young man named Timothy had his steps guided on the road to learning. In Paul's last recorded letter, he acknowledged that Timothy was first introduced to the Bible by his grandmother and mother (2 Tim. 1:5). Then Paul exhorted Timothy to continue in the Christian way because "from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures" (2 Tim. 3:14-15).
For the believer, learning about the spiritual life should never cease to delight us and help us grow. Reading and study can be a big part of that, but we also need others to encourage and teach us.
Who has helped you grow in your faith? And who in turn can you help? That's a great way to enhance our appreciation of God and strengthen our relationship with Him.
Lord, give us the desire to learn throughout life, so that we may grow increasingly closer to You each day. Thank You for those who have inspired us to learn about You.
Reading the Bible is meant not to inform but to transform.
INSIGHT:
Timothy was of mixed parentage, having a Greek father and Jewish mother (Acts 16:1). Although his biological father probably did not play a significant role in his spiritual development, Timothy was taught the holy Scriptures from childhood and came to faith through the teaching and godly influence of his grandmother Lois and mother Eunice (2 Tim. 1:5). Timothy first met Paul in Derbe at the start of his second missionary journey (Acts 16:1), and Timothy soon became Paul's protégé. The apostle Paul affectionately called him "a true son in the faith" (1 Tim. 1:2) and "a beloved son" (2 Tim. 1:2).
READ: 2 Timothy 3:10-17
10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.
12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. http://mychal-massie.com/premium/never-stop-learning-sunday-thought-for-the-day/
“Lions,tigers and bears oh my”…. : By JENNIFER NEWTON FOR MAILONLINE
from Doofiegirl on 06/15/2015 02:19 PMApocalyptic scenes in Georgia as lions, bears, wolves and a hippo are among dozens of animals on the loose in the streets of Tbilisi as church leaders blame catastrophe on decision to melt down monastery's bells
These were the apocalyptic scenes in Tblisi today where lions, bears, wolves and a hippo were among dozens of animals on the loose following heavy flooding - which church leaders say is a punishment from God for melting down the monastery's bells.
The capital of Georgia has been placed on lock-down after the flooding destroyed enclosures at the city's zoo - allowing a host of dangerous and scared animals to escape and roam the streets.
The head of the Georgian Orthodox Church blamed the floods on the 'sin' of Communists who he said built the zoo using money raised from destroying churches and melting down their bells.
Residents in Tbilisi have been warned to stay indoors after more than 30 of the zoo's residents broke out during heavy rain and wind.
The flash floods have already killed up to 12 people including three workers who were employed at Tbilisi Zoo.
The zoo said one of the dead was Guliko Chitadze, a zookeeper who lost an arm in an attack by a tiger last month. The husband of zookeeper Ms Chitadze also died in the flooding.
Some of the animals have been seized but it is unclear how many are still on the loose.
Eight bears and 20 wolves are also among the animals who fled from their enclosures as well as six tigers and six lions.
It has also been reported that six wolves were killed after they were found near to a children's hospital and a video showed locals trying to save an escaped bear. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3123378/A-city-lockdown-Tigers-lions-bears-wolves-hippo-loose-Georgia-s-capital-Tbilisi-freak-flood-killed-eight-leaves-dozens-dangerous-zoo-animals-roaming-city-s-streets.html

Pin Drop
from Doofiegirl on 06/15/2015 12:59 PMWorth Repeating!!
Once upon
a time when our politicians didn't tend to
apologize
for our country's prior actions, here's a refresher on how some of our former patriots handled negative comments about our country.
These are good!
JFK'S Secretary of State, Dean Rusk, was in France in the early 60's when
DeGaulle decided to pull out of NATO. DeGaulle said he wanted all US
military out of France as soon as possible.
Rusk responded, "Does that include those who are buried here?"
DeGaulle did not respond.
You could have heard a pin drop.
When in England ,at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the
Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of
'empire building' by George Bush. He answered by saying,
"Over the years, the United States has sent many of
its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom
beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for
in return is enough to bury those that did not return."
You could have heard a pin drop.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There was a conference in France
where a number of international engineers
were taking part, including French and American. During a break,
one of the French engineers came back into the room saying, "Have you
heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft
carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he
intend to do, bomb them?"
A Boeing engineer
stood up and replied quietly: "Our carriers have three
hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are
nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to
shore facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to
feed 3,000 people three meals a day, they can produce several thousand
gallons of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a
dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and
from their flight deck. We have eleven such ships;
how many does France have?"
You could have heard a pin drop.
A U..S. Navy Admiral
was attending a naval conference that included
Admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian and French
Navies At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large
group of officers that included personnel from most of those countries..
Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a
French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many
languages, Americans learn only English. He then asked, "Why is it that
we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than
speaking French?"
Without hesitating,
the American Admiral replied, "Maybe it's because the
Brit's, Canadians, Aussie's and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't
have to speak German."
You could have heard a pin drop.
AND THIS STORY FITS RIGHT IN WITH THOSE ABOVE...
Robert Whiting,
an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane.
At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport
in his carry on.
"You have been to France before, monsieur?" the customs officer asked
sarcastically.
Mr. Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously.
"Then you should know enough to have your passport ready."
The American said, "The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it."
"Impossible.. Americans always have to show their passports on arrival in France !"
The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he
quietly explained, ''Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in
1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn't find a single Frenchmen
to show a passport to."
You could have heard a pin drop.
